1. Ethics and Professional Issues for Counselors
This training provides information on ethical principles and theories, an ethical decision making process and specific dilemmas regarding the client/counselor relationship. Content can be designed for specific client populations, for example, clients with substance use disorders. 2. Advanced Ethics: Boundary Violations in the Client/Counselor Relationship
Professional codes of ethics prohibit dual and sexual relationships with clients. Why are these still the most reported ethical violations and malpractice claims in our profession? This workshop will attempt to answer that question by providing information on the characteristics of the client/counselor relationship that need to be monitored, such as self-disclosure, use of touch, and counter-transference patterns. We will discuss some of the patterns found in the ethics literature on boundary violations including sexual issues in the client/counselor relationship. The format will be didactic material and experiential. This workshop is for advanced clinicians who have had introductory ethics training and several years of experience.
3. Legal and Ethical Issues for Counselors
This training covers legal terms that counselors need to know such as case law, statutes, regulations, duty to warn, subpoenas, court orders and malpractice issues. This training also discusses ethical principles and how these can be in conflict with legal mandates. Participants will be involved in an ethical decision making process to differentiate legal, illegal, ethical and unethical practice. The format is didactic along with group discussion. Note: For this training I would need to have a copy of the state statutes with regard to counseling if it is not offered in VA or someone to co-train with me who has a good working knowledge of the state statutes. Also need a copy of the credential regulations for whoever is in the audience.
4. Ethics for Clinical Supervisors
This training provides an opportunity to apply ethical principles to the clinical supervisory relationship. Ethical decision making in the supervisory process is discussed along with the Association of Counseling Educators and Supervisors (ACES) Code of Ethics. The format will be didactic materials and group discussions.

Logistics
- All trainings are delivered by power point along with other audio visual techniques. Group discussion is included in the three hour offerings. Six hour offerings include case studies and more experiential components. All trainings have a bibliography which includes articles, books and websites.
- Fees are 850.00 a day. The fee includes:
- One year of free consultation on any ethical issues for anyone who participates in the training: If you want this as part of your contract you will need to be willing to provide me with a list of the names of the participants.
- Prep time: If you ask for something other than these descriptions that requires more research, there will be an additional fee which is negotiable. For example, if you want me to train in a state other than Virginia on legal issues and do the research on their statutes and regulations that would be an extra fee.
- Master power point which you agree is to be used only for the purpose of making handouts for this training.
- Travel expenses, lodging and meals are not included in the fee listed above.
- Participants: Not less than 20; not more than 50.
- Once we have agreed on the content, location, and date, I will send you a contract which includes all of the logistical information. In addition, you are responsible for providing an appropriate training location, enough handouts for all participants and the audio-visual equipment needed.
